Transfer Students

Reuben-Allen College (RAC) does not recruit students already attending or admitted to another school offering a similar program of study. However, RAC will accept transfers only from public high school cosmetology programs. Transfer students must be in good standing with the previous school in the following areas: discipline, attendance and grades. RAC will not accept students who have been suspended, dismissed, or who have had attendance problems at a previous school. Former schools will be contacted to confirm all records. Cosmetology students interested in transferring to RAC should contact the school’s office for an appointment.

Students in cosmetology seeking to transfer 750 hours or more must take a practical and written exam relative to the number of hours already attained. The students must pass the exam with a grade of at least 80% in order to have all transfer hours accepted by RAC. If the student does not pass the exam, she/he is required to enroll at RAC for a minimum of 750 hours. Saturday absences and probationary periods for transfer students are based on the number of hours the students is enrolled at RAC.

There are no transfer fees. Costs are as follows:
The tuition cost for transfer students is $7.50 per hour.
*  Other charges: $100.00 registration fee due 3 weeks prior to class starting. This is used to reserve a place in the class and is non-refundable.
*   Books and supplies: The student is required to have or to purchase necessary books and supplies prior to class starting. The cost for the entire package is $1,000.00.

Students who have been out of high school less than 6 months may apply for the Julie Cooper Scholarship. Please refer to the Julie Cooper Scholarship page for more details.

Transfer students are not eligible for the Excellent Grades and Attendance Benefit, prepay discount or other discounts except for the Julie Cooper Scholarship. Student loan amount, for approved students, will be based on number of hours.

Transfer students are responsible for the same admission requirements as 1500-hour students plus transfer students must provide school with a certification of hours form from previous school.

Transfer students must start with a Basics class and will remain in Basics for a minimum of one month.
